Masizakhe is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children, staff, and community members, regardless of their HIV status. We recognize the impact of HIV/AIDS on vulnerable communities and are dedicated to education, prevention, support, and non-discrimination.

1. Non-Discrimination and Human Rights

  • No child or employee shall face discrimination based on their HIV status.

  • Confidentiality is respected at all times.

  • Equal access to education, healthcare, and support services is guaranteed for all children in our care, including those living with HIV.

2. Education and Awareness

  • We provide age-appropriate HIV/AIDS education to all children as part of our life skills program.

  • Topics include prevention, transmission, stigma reduction, and healthy living.

  • Awareness campaigns are held in collaboration with local clinics and community health workers.

3. Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT)

  • VCT is encouraged, not enforced.

  • Services are made available through partnerships with local health facilities.

  • All testing and counseling are strictly confidential and done with informed consent.

4. Support and Referrals

  • Children or staff living with HIV receive referrals to healthcare providers for ARV treatment and ongoing care.

  • Emotional and psychological support is available through our social workers and counseling team.

  • Support groups are encouraged where appropriate.

5. Infection Control and Workplace Safety

  • All staff are trained in universal infection control precautions (e.g., handling blood spills).

  • Protective equipment (e.g., gloves, disinfectants) is provided.

  • All incidents are recorded and handled with care and professionalism.

6. Staff Training and Capacity Building

  • Continuous training is provided to staff on HIV/AIDS awareness, children's rights, and appropriate responses.

  • Staff are taught how to offer psychosocial support to affected children.

7. Community Engagement

  • The policy extends to educating caregivers, parents, and the surrounding community.

  • We work with schools, clinics, and community leaders to combat stigma and promote inclusion.

8. Policy Monitoring and Review

  • This policy is reviewed annually to align with national HIV/AIDS policies and community needs.

  • Updates are made based on feedback from stakeholders and healthcare partners.

Masizakhe stands firmly against HIV-related stigma and ensures that children in our care grow up with knowledge, compassion, and support. Our policy reflects our mission to protect, educate, and empower every child , ensuring no one is left behind because of HIV/AIDS.
